Before You Decide on Another Company or Contractor consider:      Many, many home improvement contractors find they can save money by:                - not reporting income                - not paying worker’s compensation insurance                - not deducting taxes from their employees wages; and/or                - not being licensed.    Their lower prices may seem attractive but these lower prices are only possible due to working outside the protection of the legal and community ethics system. Did you know: If a worker is injured on your property, and he is not covered by valid workers compensation insurance, you as the homeowner, are liable if that injured worker took his case to court? If you are a victim of contractor fraud or default, the state of Virginia offers protection and financial assistance to consumers through the Transaction Recovery Fund.  The Transaction Recovery Fund provides funds to assist consumers in recovering funds in cases of contractor fraud, default or mishap, but this assistance is offered only to those who contract with state LICENSED contractors.  If the contractor you hire is not licensed, the state can offer very little protection or assistance in recovering your money in case of fraud or default.   Don’t take a chance on cheaper bids and proposals from little known contractors!
